If potable water scarcity is not on your survival list yet, have no worries, it is most likely to appear rather soon. Here are several facts that might convince you in a more appropriate manner:

• 70% of worldwide ocean are glaciers.
• 20% of the remained part are the areas too remote for humans to access.
• 3/4 of the 80% of above mentioned remained part are monsoons and floods that usually cannot be captured by people for treatment.
• What’s left? Miserable 0.08% of a single percent to quench the daily thirst of a whole human race.

Considering that we were approximately 2.5 billion in 1950s and outreached 6.5 billion by 2008, water scarcity is no longer a myth. In other words, if today we are blindly fighting for energy sources, tomorrow we will consciously fight for water. But hopefully scientists are struggling to prevent such a sad scenario. There are already existing solutions based on nano technologies that have ability to efficiently purify water. If nano technologies become affordable to all social levels, such water-purifying solutions can be installed in every household. That would definitely solve the problem of a potable water, but certainly not the scarcity. In theory, as I see it, this second part of the problem requires nothing but a built-in water reservoir and a closed water circuit per each particular household. Thus, all consumed and contaminated water can be instantly purified and refilled into the reservoir for recurring use. The waste products arising from the purification process can be stored in a special compartment for further recycling. This might surely require extra expense, but considering that such a solution would significantly save your water-related expenditures and commit no harm to environment, it is a dime deal.

Currently I’m reading the autobiography of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement, who obviously needs no further introduction. Despite his social status, Gandhi was continuously striving to conduct self-sufficient and a plain living. That fact makes me unintentionally think of modern consumption and its harmful consequences.

Let’s face it, people don’t know how to restrain their doubtful necessities, so they end up to overconsume. This causes unbalance and blind hunger for something new, both accompanied by frustration. Logically, manufacturers are destroying the environment to satisfy your unquenchable thirst for that “something new”. What happens next? Once you are served, you end up to overconsume it again. The sad circle is closed.

Need a solution? Consume moderately, keep balance.

Referring to a study, conducted by TNS Intersearch in August 1999 aiming to clarify what people think is the greatest invention of 20th century, top response (30%) was generously given to computers. Perhaps it is. In any case, the symbiosis of a human brain and CPU capacity achieved a giant leap in many aspects of our civilization within an extremely short time-line. The computers broke former comfort zone by setting up new heights and limits. We allowed them to penetrate our workplaces, homes and daily routine. They became an intermediate between a single human and the outside world. An average user today can easily accomplish a complicated task in a single breath, something that wouldn’t be imaginable in less than a century ago. To make a more vivid comparison, a single PC delivers more information on a daily basis than an average person would come across in his/her lifetime in 18th century. And the race is not over…

Nevertheless, computers are as much imperfect as they are capable to assist humans in their thirst for knowledge and development. Needless to say how much time and money people spend to regularly upgrade, protect and repair their PCs, not talking about the crashing software and unstable operational systems. Instead of concentrating on specific tasks, people are continuously battling with technology. Stressful to say the least. But there could be a remedy, if IT industry favourably agrees to handle the radical changes.

Imagine a highly stable and adaptive environment that always meets your current hardware requirements, a system that never requires your interference and timely follows exponential trends described in Moore’s law. In reality, existing technology progress already possesses all required capacities to implement it. The solution lies in building CPU distribution centers that are handled by IT professionals. In such circumstances, end-users will no longer need CPUs, since latter will be virtually outsourced to a third party taking care for upgrade, protection and maintenance works. Entrusting CPUs to professionals will naturally bring end-users to simplicity, concentration and limitless possibilities. The only hardware you would need is a manipulating device and a monitor. Connection between a CPU distribution center and your local hardware can be executed via Internet2 protocol or similar. All that remains is to subscribe to the service. The cost will depend on your particular requirements and might be debited from your bank account on a monthly basis to enjoy seamless experience, be it a scientific research or just an exciting game.

The benefits that would arise from the implementation of a CPU distribution center are rather obvious, starting from an efficient, stress-free usability to significantly reduced impact on environment.

Needless to say that avoiding late meals or snacks have tons of benefits that can be easily found in any related article over the web. Instead of re-listing these benefits, I’d love to share a quick tip on how to stop consuming edible content in the evenings based on my own experience. It is a truly simple tip that requires a tiny bit of self-discipline and nothing but your laziness. Here comes the unique “BYTAD” approach. Hmm, seemingly it doesn’t say much to anyone except my silly brain. Anyway, let me reveal the secret behind this complicated non-sense abbreviation. Ladies and gentlemen, it stands for “Brush Your Teeth immediately After Dinner”! :)

Have difficulty to trace logic behind? Well, since I’m too lazy to brush my teeth twice in the evening, I’d prefer to apply a small portion of self-discipline than greatly torture my laziness. Once I had dinner and afterwards immediately brushed my teeth, all I can enjoy onwards is pure crystal water. In other words, brushing my teeth after dinner is acting as a mental prevention for further consumption during that particular day. Trust me, it is not only healthy, but also keeps my PC keyboard absolutely clean ;)

Would you argue if I say that a vast majority of successful top managers own a Parker™ or a Montblanc™ pen for very special occasions? I bet you won’t, since your mind is firmly pre-associated with this type of visionary delusions. Furthermore, these obsolete associations make people believe that success is a by-product of a pen. Or that a particular pen is able to influence your carrier and entire living. Quite confusing, isn’t it? But basically it is applicable for almost any product intended to emphasize its owner’s social status. In other words, by buying such type of products, manufacturers want you to believe that you are simultaneously acquiring a bit of success. It works and clearly explains why we are continuously tending to present barely-affordable gifts to our closest relatives, friends and ourselves. Needless to say that this is a pure self-deception partially manipulated by an internal stereotyping.

What is it all about? Well, I recently received a gift from my girlfriend that is a whole opposite of the above description. It breaks all possible stereotypes related to “successful” writing devices. It is a “Winnie the Pooh” pen for children produced by an unknown Polish manufacturer St. Majewski, worth only 0.04 USD from a local discount store! Trust me, for its price it has amazing writing abilities :)

Now that I possess it, I find no better purpose than start using it for these “special occasions”. No joke. Embarrassing faces don’t confuse me. Instead, I believe it an excellent remedy for stubborn situations. It is seemingly to become my personal “Purple cow“. Let me see how far will I milk it :)

This short post initiates a series of innovative business ideas that my brain occasionally generates. Fortunately it happens quite rarely to overwhelm the blog, but whenever it does, they will appear under respective category. I’ll try to focus on simple and easy-to-implement ideas. Here is the first one to digest.

Let’s consider a laptop. Their sales continue to surge. Simultaneously it creates a favourable ground for manufacturers to innovate various gadgets for extension slots (PCMCIA, express cards etc.), but somehow the majority of them are intended to increase usability, mobility and efficiency. As a consequence, this flexibility compels people to end living at their workplaces. In such sad circumstances, domesticating a laptop sounds absolutely reasonable, isn’t it? Fortunately extension slots can easily fit much more than a boring IT gadget. Here are just a few examples:

• Craving to enjoy a bottle of fresh beer by the end of your working day? Here you go, a bottle opener at your fingertips.
• Regularly having lunch at your workplace? Micro compartments with salt and pepper at your disposal.
• Leaving for a meeting? Don’t forget to look into a mirror and brush your hair.
• A barely holding button on a shirt? No problem, here is a sewing kit.
• Dirty shoes? A cleaning wrap or a sponge are all there.
• Feel bored? Hopefully a block of playing cards will fix it.
